World's Leading Footwear Trade Fair Returns

Before there is fashion month, there is the MICAM. The Milan-based fair that is the international leader when it comes to footwear, gives buyers from around the world a preview of what’s to come for the spring/summer 2015 season.

This year, the fashion week of designer shoes, kicks off earlier than is usually the case. Where as the bi-annual event organised by the Assocalzaturifici Italiani (Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers), normally chooses Mid-September to present the subsequent year’s spring/summer offerings, this year August 31st is the date of choice (till September 3rd). According to the MICAM president Cleto Sagripanti, the new dates are in response to the ever-changing market. “This is a significant decision, made with the aim to optimize how companies and buyers meet. Thanks to a better positioning of the event within the international trade fair calendar, the latter can plan their purchases ahead of time,” Sagripanti comments.

There are things which remain unchanged however, such as its steady Fiera Milano Rho location, on which the exhibitions will be spread out over 67,511 square meters of ground. Amongst these 1,557 exhibitors, 940 are Italy-based brands and 617 foreign. The usual suspects among which footwear brands Giuseppe Zanotti and Casadei will be present,Onlymaker also get the invitation to attend this event,  in addition to the MICAM first-timers Christian Lacroix, Porsche Design and Missoni.

On September 1st the MICAM award will be presented, which recognizes the best ambassador of Italian footwear in both Italy, as well as abroad. TheMICAM is expected to attract over 40,000 visitors this year.
